Kohler & Sons

Kohler/Kohler & Sons were manufacturers of horns from 1780 until 1907 . The company achieved Royal Appointment in 1801 They were registerd at various addresses over the years one of the earliest being J.Kohler (I) - 9 Whitcomb Street London 1790-1793. From 1793 until J.Kohler (II) died in 1809 they were at 89 St.James St . After his death his widow Elizabeth ran the business from the same address in partnership with Thomas Percival till 1848. 89 St.James St was reclassified as 1 Cleveland Row in 1816.

35 Henrietta Street (1830-1881)

John Augustus Kohler ( son of John Kohler II & Elizabeth ) started up his business at 35 henrietta St in 1830 and continued there till 1878 when Augustus Charles Kohler took over remaining there till 1881.  Horns made between 1830 - 1881 usually carried the 35 Henrietta Street address, and after 1862 the Exhibition medals.The Kohler inscription became Kohler & Son in 1863.

116 Victoria Street ,Westminster (1882-1888)

Augustus Charles Kohler moved to 116 Victoria St in 1882 .Horns made between 1882 & 1888 were marked with the 116 Victoria Street , Westminster address . 

61 Victoria St , Westminster (1888-1896)

From 1888 to 1896 the 116 Victoria St address was reclassified as 61 Victoria Street. John Buxton Kohler took over in 1890 & remained at this address until 1896.

12 Great Chapel Street , Westminster (1896-1901)

John Buxton Kohler continue the business from 12 St Ermin's Mansions SW (12A Great Chapel St) from 1896 .Horns made between 1896-1901 carried the 12 Great Chapel Street , Westminster address.

167 Edbury Street ,Eaton Square (1902-1904)

The address from which John Buxton Kohler ran the business between 1902 & 1904 was 167 Edbury Street , Eaton Square , London

Bromley , Kent (1905-1907)

From 1905 until 1907 the address was just Bromley , Kent , when Swaine & Adeney aquired the business

185 Piccadilly , Covent Garden ( From 1907)

In 1907 the company was aquired by Swaine & Adeney 185 Piccadilly.
