Fabulous sterling silver hunting horn. Hallmarked for Birmingham 1977 with a superb set of oversized hallmarks including the addition of the Queens Head stamp to commemorate the silver Jubilee.
This horn was retailed by PEARCE AND SONS LTD of Melton Mowbray, one of a limited edition of only 250, this being no. 45 to celebrate the silver jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in 1977.
The quality of this item is unmistakable – it weighs a good 103.2g or 3.3 troy ounces. It measures 9 inches (22.5cm) in length.
The workmanship and quality of the decoration is superb; deeply chased into the silver. This was a very expensive item when purchased.
Condition is very good indeed with only very very light surface wear which can easily polish out. No dents or scratches, but shows signs of a repair where the bell meets the mouthpiece section - hence the price being £300 lower than the other horns from the series that we have sold in the past.
Although this item was probably bought as a Presentation Piece or gift it has not been personalised or engraved and so would lend it self very well to the addition to an isncription or monogram
This would make a really superb Christmas gift.
